The September 2015 issue of Architectural Record features the newly opened New York Edition, an Ian Schrager Company and Rockwell Group hotel. As part of the article’s People & Products of the project, Concreteworks East is excited to be featured as the provider of the project’s precast floor tile. The floor tile can be found at the main lobby entrance, elevator lobby, and restaurant lobby along with precast stair treads and window trim also provided by CWE for New York Edition’s lobby. See below for a link to the article as well as a photo slideshow.
Since the ground floor had been extensively remodeled in the 1960s, there was little to restore. The Rockwell Group tried to keep a sense of the shell by installing sand-colored cast-concrete floor tile and window moldings within the 14-foot-high spaces where ceilings are articulated by off-white beams of glass-fiber-reinforced concrete. These, along with cream-colored Venetian plaster walls infuse the setting with an assured sense of swank.
